VMotion on steroids with FCoE
Want lightning fast VMotion? Just install a CNA (Converged Network Adapter) from Emulex or QLogic and connect it to a Cisco Nexus 5000.
Mario Apicella of InfoWorld did just that and writes:
“I had intended to post a movie clip of the test VM moving to the new ESX server using VMotion, but the action lasted only a few seconds. Not much of a movie…”

In fact I had tested both Nexus and Xsigo, the vMotion speed wise both are fast.
with a single adapter ( teamed when it is supported ) how is Cisco recommending carving out the vMotion, Service Console and VM vlans ?
Put them all on common vlans ?
Make native vlan belong to SC / vMotion ?

The Service Console, vMotion (VMKernel), and the VM traffic should all be on different VLANs. That has been a consistent recommendation from both VMWare and Cisco, and I don’t suspect that will change anytime soon.
